Denmark: More than 1500 cannabis recipes dispensed in 3 months

Danish pharmacies dispensed 1.571 prescriptions for cannabis derivatives to 911 citizens in the second quarter of 2018 alone. The figures were presented by the Data Protection and Health Agency (ADS) and show the result of the first six months of a pilot project of four years old.

ADS determined the size of sales of cannabis products in the second quarter of 2018, partly for cannabis products covered by the four-year pilot project for Medical Cannabis, but also for other cannabis products not covered by the same pilot project. . the danish state 100% reimburses the dispensation of cannabis-based products for terminally ill patients and 50% for the remaining cases, as reported by Cannapress last April.

• 585 prescriptions were redeemed for 323 citizens on cannabis products covered by the Danish medical cannabis pilot program;
• The majority of citizens (451) had a prescription for masterfully manufactured cannabis-based medicines (ie products specially prepared in a pharmacy by pharmacists not included in the medical cannabis pilot program);
• It is usually specialist doctors who prescribe the first prescription for medicinal cannabis products;
• The pilot project's products are primarily prescribed for neuropathic pain.
