Sale of “light cannabis” banned in Italy

The Italian Supreme Court of Cassation has banned the sale of light cannabis products, in a historic decision handed down on Thursday, saying that it would be a “criminal” to sell products derived from or made up of cannabis.
The Court said that current laws in force do not allow the sale or transfer, for any reason, of products 'derived from the cultivation of cannabis', and that products currently on sale, including oil, leaves, inflorescences and resin must be removed from shelves.
The move is a severe blow to Italy's burgeoning 'light cannabis' sector and could derail the country's attempt to re-establish itself as a global hemp superpower.
