SOMAÍ Pharmaceuticals Unipessoal LDA has officially opened its new EU-GMP pharmaceutical facilities in Portugal, the company announced in Press release. So far, 500 kilos of cannabis have already been processed at SOMAÍ's facilities, located in Carregado, district of Lisbon. Cannareporter interviewed Michael Sassano and will publish this interview soon.

The company completed, according to the release, the first phase of the project, which encompasses 3.800 square meters of factory, independent laboratory and offices, ensuring Somaí Pharmaceuticals' prominence as the largest expandable facility for the manufacture of medical cannabis in the EU.

According to the company's statement, 500 kilos of medical cannabis have already been processed so far, in order to validate processes and prepare for the launch of products. The company's entire focus is now on delivering authorized end products to the EU market. In addition, Somai intends to set new industry standards by conducting clinical trials for absorption and in vivo for indications such as arthritis and chronic pain.

“There is great joy in providing a new cannabis production facility as more infrastructure is needed to meet growing demand in Europe and globally,” said SOMAÍ Pharmaceuticals CEO and President Michael Sassano. “SOMAÍ is creating the products of tomorrow for Europe based on the know-how current market demand and we work for patients in the largest and most competitive US markets.”

In addition to its new facilities, SOMAÍ Pharmaceuticals will run a marketing program led by an agency specializing in pharmaceutical marketing, Solaris Health. The new website of SOMAÍ is the beginning of a long-term strategy that will increase SOMAÍ's presence in the sector and highlight all upcoming product launches.

“We opened the doors of our pharmaceutical-grade facilities quickly and efficiently and are now pursuing a comprehensive marketing plan to run in parallel with our opening and product launches,” said SOMAÍ COO George Bellow.
