Canada: Spencer Charlton turns cannabis packaging into sculptures to raise awareness of waste

Canadian budtender and artist Spencer Charlton, better known as Cratercrater on social media, he is reusing packaging from legal recreational cannabis products, transforming them into authentic sculptures, usually in the shape of animals. Spencer's works are reminiscent of those of Bordalo II, a Portuguese artist who also makes sculptures and works of art with garbage collected in the streets. Both artists seek to draw attention to a problem that is not new in the cannabis industry: waste.

reached us through StratCann and we couldn't help but share. Spencer Charlton, or Cratercrater on Instagram, it's a budtender from Ontario, who makes sculptures out of empty packages of recreational cannabis sold on the legal circuit in Canada.

The artist told the Canadian portal that he was inspired to do something with a growing collection of cannabis packaging that he accumulated. Trained as a sculpture and installation artist, Charlton got his first break when he had the opportunity to exhibit his first sculpture, a raccoon, at a cannabis exhibit in Ontario in the spring of 2022, giving him motivation to move forward with the idea and with more jobs.
