The European Cluster HempClub promotes two workshops on industrial hemp. The first one is already on the 24th of January, is dedicated to cultivation and has Hana Gabrielova, from CzechHemp, as a trainer. The second takes place on the 31st of January and is dedicated to hemp feeding, with Miloš Beran as the main speaker. Participation in the workshops, which take place online, is free, but subject to registration.

The Hempclub thus begins the year 2023 with the organization of two online workshops, until the end of January, to generate new synergies and cooperation opportunities for the HempClub members and their networks. The HempClub project works to advance the potential of hemp to create EU value chains for biobased applications and new business opportunities for primary producers and chemical companies.

The first workshop is entitled “Hemp cultivation and its potential for industry” and takes place on the 24th of January, between 14:00 and 16:00, in the Central European time zone (at 13:XNUMX in the Portuguese and British time zones). This workshop aims to assess the potential of hemp as a sustainable biomass and to show opportunities in the hemp industry to produce innovative products with a low carbon footprint.

The main topics of the workshop are:

  • Industrial hemp production and its need for mechanization equipment and infrastructure increase;
  • Value of hemp production and potential profit for farmers;
  • What is the role of hemp in carbon agriculture and the green deal – examples from practice;
  • The real prices of commodities of hemp and its demand in the European market;
  • Current innovation opportunities for hemp low footprint products;
  • What are the challenges in the hemp value chain.

The keynote speaker for this workshop will be Hana Gabrielova, President of the CzecHemp Cluster. The workshop is organized by the HempClub project and its partner CzecHemp.

The program will consist of the presentation of the theme by the main speaker, with space for questions and answers, and a round table is planned that intends to function as an opportunity to networking with a focus on hemp value chain connectivity. The entire workshop takes place online and participation is free. However, in order to participate in the event you must register at this link.

Food products and aeroponic hemp cultivation

For the end of January, the workshop “Food products based on hemp and a new aeroponic system for growing hemp” is planned. The event will also take place on digital platforms, on January 31, from 14:00 pm to 16:00 pm European time (13:XNUMX pm in Portugal and the United Kingdom), and aims to share knowledge about hemp seeds and flowers for food products and new aeroponic systems for cultivation. The workshop's keynote speaker will be Miloš Beran from the Food Research Institute Prague. Participation is free, but also subject to registration.

About HempClub

The Competent and Connected Clusters Unfold the Hemp Industry Potential for the European Bioeconomy (HempCluB) project is an EU COSME project, coordinated by the Lombardie Green Chemistry Association, which brings together 7 clusters and associations operating in the primary sectors of hemp production, bioeconomy, mechatronics and green chemistry from Italy, Czech Republic, Romania, Austria and Portugal.

The HempCluB project works to unlock the potential of hemp, creating EU value chains for bio-based applications and new business opportunities for primary producers and chemical companies. As a “European Strategic Cluster Partnership”, HempCluB promotes collaboration, synchronized strategies and encourages innovative cross-regional investments to enhance cluster excellence. Through mutual learning and mobility of SMEs and other stakeholders, HempCluB aims to unlock the potential of biomass exploitation by supporting the implementation of the ClusterXchange scheme.

The specific objectives of the HempCluB partnership are:

  • Improve the management skills of cluster managers through a multidisciplinary training course that will involve at least 14 functional managers to obtain the Cluster Excellence Label certification for at least 4 clusters.
  • Reinforce the cluster's capacity for excellence by improving the portfolio of business support services. At least 14 new services will be developed involving at least 300 EU SMEs.
  • Facilitate B2B and C2C collaborative activities to strengthen interregional strategies for the bioeconomy, defining 20 new interregional cooperation projects and creating 2 value chains in the hemp sector.
  • Organization of at least 80 ClusterXchange opportunities as short-term exchanges to increase collaboration and networking activities between European organizations.
  • Promote internationalization, transfer of technology and knowledge by activating new opportunities for growth and capacity for excellence for clusters and their members.
