The german company CannaMedical published in its recruitment page the opening of a job for a cannabis 'sommelier'. The company is looking for a German candidate who can fill this vacancy and sign a contract that can exceed 100 euros per year. Applicants must be registered patients in the German medical cannabis program and work freelance from the city of Cologne. The 'sommelier' will assist CannaMedical in decision-making and will certainly test products from Portugal.
The internationalization of the cannabis industry and the diversification of products on the market is leading the German company CannaMedical GmbH to adopt an unusual strategy. It is about hiring a “Cannabis Sommelier”, a position whose main task will be to provide advice on cannabis products, on a freelance basis and to perform functions in the city of Cologne.
The company is looking for a candidate capable of providing the company with support and advice in the management of the purchasing and supply chain, in the selection of medicinal cannabis cultivars, in the evaluation of different varieties of cannabis based on established criteria, in the quality verification of the portfolio of products, evaluating growing conditions, observing and analyzing the market, publishing professional articles on growers, cultivation and cultivars as well as educational work in the field of medical cannabis.
A job for 'cannabis lovers'
In terms of the applicants' profile, they must be registered patients in the German medical cannabis program. Candidates are also required to have a broad knowledge of cannabinoids, cannabis strains and terpenes. In the advertisement, the company also specifies that the candidate must be passionate about everything related to cannabis, must have scientific or agricultural training, work in a structured, independent and responsible way, as well as be flexible and reliable.
The remuneration of the new job could rise to 100 thousand euros per year, and it will depend on the qualifications of the candidates, according to the declarations of David Henn, from CannaMedical, to the German newspaper BILD. The person in charge of the company informed that the selected candidates will be responsible for evaluating and testing cannabis products from markets such as Australia, Canada, Portugal, Macedonia and Denmark.
Tilray Portugal, carried out an agreement with CannaMedical in 2019, where cannabis flowers were exported with a commercial value of 3 million euros, the specific amount of flower exported having not been disclosed.
