March for Canábis heads towards São Bento

Published

em

The March for Cannabis, started from Largo do Camões, and goes directly to the Assembly of the Republic. The demonstration called by the Mães pela Canábis association is the mothers' cry of demand, who in this way seek to raise awareness of the still high stigma associated with the plant.

It is already at 16:20 that the demonstration called for today by the newly created Associação Mães pela Canábis begins. The event started at 15 pm, with the participants meeting in Largo do Camões, in the heart of Lisbon. Now, at 16:20 pm, the demonstration heads to São Bento, in what is “a cry for help from mothers” according to Paula Mota, who heads the Associação Mães pela Canábis.

In exclusive statements to CannaReporter, Paula Mota disclosed that the reasons that led her to call the march were largely the stigma she feels, and on the other hand, the difficulties and barriers she still encounters. “We are mothers, we need help. This is a cry for help from mothers”, says Paula Mota.

Questioned about the difficulties she faces as a caregiver, Paula says that there is still a lack of training and information on the part of the medical community. “When a mother approaches a doctor to ask for a consultation or an opinion on the use of CBD, the doctors say that they do not know the plant, nor the therapy and that they have nothing to prescribe”.

This is one of the reasons why the event's main demands are precisely to increase training for professionals, to have more medication and products available and even self-cultivation, justified to guarantee access. “not everyone has the capacity to pay for these therapies”, concludes Paula Mota.
