Authorities find 2 tonnes of hashish adrift off the coast of Gibraltar

Gibraltar Customs agents seized a total of 53 bales of hashish, weighing approximately 2 tonnes, in an operation that began when they detected the presence of strange packages floating around the coast. According to Andalucia Information, aGibraltar authorities mobilized 3 boats to collect the goods, valued at more than 9 million euros.

The discovery of the bales took place on the 20th of May, at 11 am, during a routine patrol. After investigating the “suspicious packages of different sizes and packages”, two more vessels were then appointed to recover the cargo. However, no trace of the smugglers was found, who allegedly transported the illicit cargo.
