USA: Minnesota is the 23rd state to legalize adult use of cannabis

Minnesota is the latest US state to legalize adult cannabis use, with the new regulation taking effect in August. The diploma, with around 300 pages, was signed yesterday by the Governor of the State of Minnesota, Tim Walz, and allows the recreational use of cannabis to those over 21 years old.
Governor Tim Walz signed, this Tuesday, the bill that makes Minnesota the 23rd state to regulate the recreational use of cannabis. The 3-hundred-page bill will allow adults aged 21 and over to use cannabis recreationally, converting the black market into regulated activities, and will also overturn convictions for minor cannabis offenses.
“We have known for a long time that banning the use of cannabis has not worked. By legalizing adult use, we are expanding our economy, creating jobs and regulating the industry to keep Minnesotans safe,” said Walz. “Legalizing adult use and overturning or reviewing convictions for cannabis offenses will strengthen communities. This is the right decision for Minnesota,” concluded the governor.
The legalization of recreational cannabis in Minnesota, although approved, will only take effect in August. With the measure, the use and possession of cannabis will be decriminalized, as well as self-cultivation, which will become legal for people aged 21 and over. The state will also begin eliminating convictions for cannabis offenses from Minnesotans' records in August. However, retail sales should only start a year from now.
Today I signed a bill legalizing adult-use cannabis and expunging nonviolent cannabis convictions in Minnesota.
This is the right move for Minnesota.
