Barbados: Medical Cannabis Licensing Authority partners with GrowerIQ to drive industry forward

The Barbados Medical Cannabis Licensing Authority (BMCLA), the regulatory body for the island's medical cannabis industry, has joined forces with GrowerIQ, a cannabis technology company, to develop the industry in the country. The collaboration comes after BMCLA meticulously selected GrowerIQ through a highly competitive global Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The partnership is set to develop over the next five years, during which time GrowerIQ will be responsible for managing the tracking and reporting of all cannabis production on the island.

With a shared vision of establishing a cutting-edge medical cannabis industry in Barbados, BMCLA and GrowerIQ are determined to set new standards that will not only shape the regulatory landscape on the island, but also serve as a benchmark for the entire region. This partnership represents an extraordinary opportunity for industry participants to capitalize on the emerging medical cannabis sector.

GrowerIQ's advanced and user-friendly cannabis management system will play a key role in achieving BMCLA's ambitious goals. This innovative technology simplifies and automates various cannabis management processes, ensuring streamlined tracking, operational control, better plant health and consistent quality. By harnessing the power of data analytics, GrowerIQ empowers cannabis growers to make data-driven decisions, leading to greater efficiency and productivity.

Senator Shanika Roberts-Odle, Executive Director (Ag) of the BMCLA, expressed her greatest enthusiasm for this collaboration, stating that “GrowerIQ's experience and state-of-the-art technology make it the ideal partner to help us achieve our goals. The software as a service (SaaS) system will allow our licensees to view and track all their information and activities, improve cultivation practices and manage cannabis-based products, including registration of origin, test results, handling and supply chain. custody. This data tracking will help our licensees to optimize inventory control and accurately record data including sales. In addition, it will provide BMCLA with access and transparency, ensuring regulatory compliance and safeguarding patient well-being.”
