Cognoscitiva's 20th anniversary party is this Saturday, in Lisbon
A Cognitive celebrates 20 years of existence with a party at the Benfica store, this Saturday, September 23rd, and takes advantage of the excuse to bring the community together and share knowledge, experiences and products, from 15:00 pm to 22:00 pm. With a well-fertilized program, which includes workshops, debates, demonstrations, music and the launch of a book, the event promises to bring together the cannabis community from across the country.
Cognoscitiva was the first Grow shop opening its doors in our country, in 2003. Those were different times and the formula that the founders, Dinis Dias and Pablo Hernández, found to avoid problems with “less friendly visitors” was to open an organic grocery store. On one side they had fruits, vegetables and grocery products, and on the other they had lights, fertilizers and other growing materials. For years, Dinis recalls, “no one paid much attention to those organic farming products that were there”, but little by little the public's interest began to grow, and so did the business.
However, the Cognos It became almost an institution, with 10 stores from North to South of the country. Today they are reduced to five (two owned and three franchised), but they continue to serve the four corners of our rectangle and the entire world through their online store.
Event Schedule
The party program opens at 15pm with a workshop substrate creation with David Silva, store collaborator (upon registration), followed by the presentation of Sérgio Neto's book “Entre Folhas e Esperança: Canábis e o Poder da Cura”. The conversation will bring together the author and founder of Pure Healing (who has since left to embrace new adventures); Paula Mota Mothers for Cannabis Association; Ludymilla Matoso, founder of Chapadas Club, which is dedicated to the 'creative economy' and Ivo Cruz, current manager and manager of Cognos.
In the program there is also a demonstration of the filters, joint holders, terpene pearls, pipes and glass mouthpieces from the brand Black dog, followed by a concert by Adubodib and a series of parallel events such as Live Painting by the artist Trauma, Flash tattoos by Jaime Blacksheep, a photography exhibition by Weed Diary, an exchange of (legal) plants and a mini-fair with the participation of other stores.
After the speech by founders Pablo and Dinis, the party will continue until 22pm with DJ Progressiviu. According to Ivo Cruz “this event is a celebration of the company's 20th anniversary and, above all, a tribute to our customers and our workers, who placed their trust in us”.
Put on your best suits, take (nice!) plants to exchange, prepare your body and head to Benfica because, as Ivo says, “Saturday promises to be an exceptional day”.
