Spain: Exponential growth of Spannabis dictates expansion to Bilbao in September

The 20th edition Spannabis 2024, one of the oldest and largest cannabis fairs in the world, closed yesterday with the participation of more than 25 visitors, 500 exhibitors, 5 cannabis industry professionals, 2400 workers and 300 staff. Taking this success into account, the organization decided to expand and announced a new fair for this year, the Spannabis Bilbao, scheduled for the 21st and 22nd of September.
The Spannabis that ended this Sunday was celebrated 22 years after the first edition, in 2002, having only been interrupted for two years due to the pandemic. The Barcelona Fair has already positioned itself as the largest event dedicated to cannabis in Europe, with the particularity of being open to the general public and not just professionals.
Considered an essential meeting point for the global cannabis industry, Spannabis brings together seed banks, growers, lawyers, industrial equipment companies, fertilizer or hemp clothing companies for analysis laboratories, medical cannabis companies, grow shops, manufacturers of rolling papers and filters, cannabis paraphernalia, glass pipe artisans, among many others.
According to the organization, this was “the biggest edition of the fair to date”. In addition to the atmosphere of communion and celebration that took place in the outdoor patio, where the dance floor was always busy and well-flavoured, the event is one of the professionals' favorites, thanks to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, which promotes close contact with the public, business, networking and the meeting with friends, partners and associates from all over the world who come together annually at the Fira de Cornellá, in Barcelona, as is tradition.
Conferences: from clubs to psychedelics
During Spannabis, the World Cannabis Conferences, which this year addressed topics such as the Spanish model of Cannabis Social Clubs, the organization of the commercial cannabis sector and the Grémio del Cannabis project until 2025, the new psychedelia and treatments with medicines, microdoses or through community use. Other themes have come under regulation, the case of Thailand or the relationship between women and cannabis, from antiquity through pagan goddesses, women-medicines and other female figures related to fertility, plants and the power of healing.
This was another memorable edition of the “largest cannabis fair in the world” which this year broke all participation and attendance records, leaving people missed after the match and bringing forward the next Spannabis in Barcelona, already confirmed for 2025. But before that, returns in September to Bilbao.
