"Cannabis. Maldita e Maravilhosa”, by Margarita Cardoso de Meneses, hits bookstores on May 16th

Margarita Cardoso de Meneses, contributor to CannaReporter®, has just published the book “Canábis. Maldita e Maravilhosa”, published by Oficina do Livro, from the Leya group. The launch session takes place on May 16th, at 18:30 pm, at the Pharmacy Museum, in Lisbon. The book will be presented by Journalist Laura Ramos and Lawyer João Taborda da Gama.

Cannabis was definitively banned in the mid-20th century due to its psychotropic effects due to a campaign aimed at serving unclear interests. And so, the same plant that three millennia before Christ was already used in China to produce medicinal teas – and which would later supply almost indestructible sails and cables to Portuguese navigators – became illegal, coming to be seen as a drug. infamous, capable of leading young people to madness and death… More recently, however, the legalization of cannabis began to be demanded by a considerable part of society thanks to its multiple virtues and uses, the psychotropic dimension being just one of them.

Throughout these pages, we travel through the incredible diversity that, from every point of view, cannabis encompasses. We identify the main characteristics of each of its varieties, we understand the fundamental difference between male plants and female plants, we go through the already long history of the relationship between human beings and “herb” and we discover the true reasons that led to its prohibition. We also learn what science says about this unique drug and learn about the enormous impact of the so-called “green gold” on the various economic activities that generate increasingly significant profits.

With a 360-degree view, this is a fundamental book for understanding this damned and wonderful plant that, after all, will always be whatever Man wants to make of it.
