Cannabinoid Translational Science Symposium starts February 10th, exclusively online

The International Symposium on Translational Cannabinoid Science will bring together experts to discuss advances in cannabinoid research and therapeutic applications and kicks off next Monday, February 10. The symposium will take place virtually on three consecutive Mondays, February 10, 17 and 24, 2025, and aims to connect fundamental research and the practical application of cannabinoids in medicine, bringing together the most important scientists, academics and industry leaders to discuss recent advances in the field.
Chaired by Italian researchers Alessia Ligresti and Marialessandra Contino, in partnership with several researchers and academics, the symposium is divided into three main themes with specific presentations in each area of expertise, such as:
Day 1 (February 10): Cannabinoids and Neuroinflammation
- Prof. Michael Decker (University of Würzburg) – Neuroprotective strategies for drug development against Alzheimer’s
- Prof. Mauro Maccarrone (University of L'Aquila) – Interaction between endocannabinoids and other bioactive lipids in neuroinflammation
- Prof. Vincenzo Di Marcho (Université de Laval, Québec) – Relationship between the endocannabinoid and the gut microbiome
Day 2 (February 17): Cannabinoids in Oncology and Pain
- Prof. Laura Heitman (Leiden University) – Drug discovery for cannabinoid receptors
- Prof. Cristina Sanchez (Complutense University of Madrid) – The endocannabinoid system as a therapeutic tool in cancer
- Dr. Colin Stott (Phytanix Bio) – Regulatory perspectives on cannabinoid drug development
Day 3 (February 24): Translational Science of Cannabinoids in Industry
- Prof. Saoirse O'Sullivan (Artelo Biosciences) – Clinical advances in FABP (Fatty Acid Binding Proteins) inhibition
- Prof. Andrea Chicca (Synendos Therapeutics) – Clinical development of selective endocannabinoid reuptake inhibitors.
- Prof. Geoffrey Guy (The Guy Foundation – Founder of GW Pharmaceuticals) – Non-pharmacological perspectives on the effects of cannabinoids on biological systems.
The symposium will also feature presentations and roundtables, providing a space for the exchange of knowledge between scientists, physicians and industry representatives. In addition, there will be a space for participants to clarify any doubts they may have.
Registration costs 100 euros for the general public, 80 euros for students and can be done here.
The full schedule, including times, and more details about the speakers are at official website of the event.
