CannaPortugal returns to Lisbon on 16th and 17th May

On May 16 and 17, 2025, the Instituto Superior de Agronomia, in Lisbon, will host CannaPortugal — International Hemp and Cannabis Expo. The event brings together professionals from various areas to discuss the uses, regulations and social and economic impacts of the plant.
The use of cannabis — medicinal, industrial and social — will be highlighted for two days in Lisbon, at CannaPortugal 2025, an international event that aims to deepen the debate on the multiple dimensions of the plant. With a program that crosses business, science, public policy and culture, the fair aims to contribute to a more informed and comprehensive discussion on the topic.
The event will take place at the Exhibition Pavilion of the Instituto Superior de Agronomia and will include specialized sessions, round tables, workshops and project presentations. The event will open on Friday, May 16, with a networking session aimed at investors, entrepreneurs and policy makers, followed by a series of panels open to the public.
Topics to be discussed include the legalisation of cannabis in different countries, the technological and scientific applications of the plant, and its use in veterinary medicine. There will also be space to reflect on the role of cannabis in criminal justice, education and social communication, as well as the agricultural potential of hemp as a sustainable alternative in the ecological transition.
On Saturday, May 17, the program will highlight cannabis gastronomy, artificial intelligence applied to marketing in the industry and soil regeneration for growing the plant. Another panel will address cannabinoids and their therapeutic use in different age groups, while a roundtable will discuss the future of cannabis, including beyond the planet — in a panel entitled “The Future of Cannabis on Earth and in Space”.
One of the most symbolic moments will be the enthronement of the International Cannabis Portugal Brotherhood, which includes a ceremony with institutional speeches, tasting of typical dishes and a historical reflection on the brotherhoods and social clubs linked to cannabis.
“CannaPortugal is not limited to promoting the sector. The event aims to question current paradigms about cannabis, bringing the ethical, legal and scientific implications of its use to the center of the discussion. By bringing together different agents — from researchers to activists, including industry representatives — the aim is to create a space for open dialogue on a topic that continues to generate controversy and social transformation,” the organization said in a statement.
