Operation “Erva Daninha”: Aldo Vidinha and Teresa Faísca released, awaiting trial with identity and residence terms. Danish Michael Sorensen remains in preventive detention
There were three days of unconfirmed information, with the “Erva Daninha” operation carried out by the Judicial Police surprising the medicinal cannabis industry in Portugal and arresting 5 people. Correio da Manhã announced today that the coercive measures against at least three of the detainees are already known: Aldo Vidinha, from Smart Nature and Teresa Faísca, from Canna Forest, have already been released and are awaiting trial with an identity and residence order (TIR); the Danish Michael Sorensen will be subject to the most serious coercive measure, preventive detention.
As the details of the case and Operation “Erva Daninha”, which surprised Portugal last Tuesday, become clearer, there is still much to be said to explain the more than 7 tons of cannabis, almost half a million euros in cash, 12 luxury cars and 11 weapons.
As information Official information about the “Erva Daninha” operation, launched by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) last Tuesday, has been quite scarce since the beginning and the investigations that took place from north to south of the country resulted in 5 arrests, allegedly 3 men and 2 women. Aldo Vidinha, from the company Smart Nature, was named a defendant and will await the investigation phase in freedom, according to information from the Correio da Manhã. The same body writes that the detained citizen who will await preventive detention is a Danish man identified as Michael Sorensen, suspected of controlling the scheme targeted by this investigation.
The authorities announced that the investigations are ongoing, however, for now, what is known is that a total of 64 search warrants were served. However, no information was released about the entities targeted, only knowing that the operation resulted in several seizures. namely 7300 kg of cannabis and 411 thousand euros, as well as 12 cars and 11 weapons. However, it is important to note that the seizures result from searches carried out on 64 entities throughout mainland Portugal and Madeira, whose identity has not yet been revealed.
The Judiciary Police confirmed, however, to CannaReporter® that the total values of the seizures are the aggregate values of all the seizures and searches carried out in the 64 entities, and are not limited to the entity shown in the video. From what was possible to ascertain, the five detainees were brought before an investigating judge for the application of coercive measures, ensuring the observance of fundamental rights and the regular continuation of the criminal investigation without any interference. CannaReporter® has learned that Teresa Faísca was released last night, confirming only that if coercive measures were applied, these were not considered more serious and preventative measures of freedom. Teresa Faísca and Aldo Vidinha are awaiting trial with a TIR, namely bi-weekly presentations to the police.
