Hemp for the Future: Hemp and Cannabis Conference Kicks Off Tomorrow in Iceland
The second edition of the Hemp for the Future conference kicks off tomorrow in Reykjavik, an event bringing together international experts in industrial hemp, medicinal cannabis, sustainability, and public policy. Organized by the Icelandic Hemp Association, the meeting will take place on October 2nd and 3rd, 2025, at the historic Iðnó venue in the center of the Icelandic capital. The event will also be streamed live.
In a global context of growing interest in circular economy solutions, plant innovation, and medicinal cannabis use, Hemp for the Future 2025 puts Iceland on the map as a key hub for the international hemp and cannabis ecosystem.
This is a decisive moment for Iceland, which still has no regulations governing the use of hemp or medicinal cannabis. The Icelandic Hemp Association intends, through these meetings, to promote the use of cannabis for industrial and medicinal purposes, and to also alert the government to the need for updated legislation, more in line with most European Union countries.
Over two days, the program will feature presentations and debates that include, among other topics:
- Innovations in industrial hemp, from sustainable cultivation practices to new value-added products;
- Advances in medicinal cannabis, scientific research, therapeutic applications and regulatory challenges;
- Legal frameworks and public policies, national models, reform strategies and opportunities;
- Market and business, networking, investment and growth of the hemp and cannabis sector
