Thailand: Bangkok hosts the 4th edition of the Asia International Hemp Expo & Forum from November 5th to 7th
From November 5 to 7, 2025, the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, will once again host the Asia International Hemp Expo & Forum (AIHEF 2025), one of the most comprehensive business platforms for the hemp industry in Asia, which expects around 10,000 visitors.
Organized by NCC Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd. (NEO) in partnership with Thai Industrial Hemp Trade Association (TiHTA), the AIHEF 2025 positions itself as "Asia's most comprehensive exhibition and forum for the hemp industry." Now in its 4th edition, the event will be themed "Making New Waves" and will bring together cutting-edge technology, materials, cultivation, extraction, and processing equipment, with the aim of facilitating the establishment of production bases in Thailand.
In addition, the event is expected to attract around 300 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors, providing a valuable platform for comprehensive commercial negotiations between raw material suppliers and manufacturers of processed hemp products, covering the entire supply chain, from upstream to downstream, as well as opportunities for export channels.
Key sectors include plantation technology, packaging, raw materials, medical supplies, food and beverages, cosmetics and spas, clothing, composite products, and construction materials such as Hempcrete.
The forum will feature a series of panels, workshops and thematic sessions focused on the different links in the hemp chain, including:
- Global trends in regulation and public policy for hemp
- Innovations in cultivation, extraction and processing
- Construction Applications — Practical Hempcrete Workshop
- Sustainable design and fashion with hemp fibers
- Hemp-based cosmetics, food and nutrition
- Logistics and export of alternative biomaterials
AIHEF also includes a Hemp & Cannabis Excursion — a guided technical tour to explore plantations, laboratories, and facilities linked to the local production chain. Special forums are also planned, featuring renowned industry speakers, academics, and company leaders from the sector, who will share practical cases and visions for the future.
Thailand leads hemp sector in Asia
Poomjai Khumpumpo, President of the Thai Industrial Hemp Trade Association (TIHTA), stated that Thailand's hemp industry is entering a new era of health- and environmentally-oriented economics. More than 40 countries worldwide are enacting laws allowing the use of hemp in healthcare applications and environmentally friendly materials.
Thailand, with its strong potential as a regional production and processing hub, is well positioned under a clear regulatory framework and production standards supported by the Ministry of Public Health, particularly through the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, in initiatives such as the Thai Herbal Pharmacopoeia, Premium Herbal Products and GACP.
In 2024, Thailand's herbal products market reached 44,8 billion baht (€1,14 billion), a 7% increase from the previous year, with herbal dietary supplements accounting for 8,6 billion baht (€219 million), a 9% increase — reflecting local consumers' growing preference for natural and herbal products.
Meanwhile, the plant-based alternative materials market is valued at approximately 47 billion baht (€1,20 billion), and although hemp materials currently represent less than 1% of the construction sector, the sector has been growing by 15% to 20% per year, driven by BCG's economic policy and the growing trend towards energy-efficient housing.
In response, TIHTA has developed its own upstream breeding standard through the TIHTA 01 strain, with the aim of enhancing long-term sustainability and global competitiveness, with official registration with the Department of Agriculture expected in 2025.
Sakchai Pattarapreechakul, Executive Director of NCC A Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd. (NEO), added that AIHEF 2025, now in its fourth consecutive year, continues to boost the Thai hemp industry as one of the country's emerging economic crops. The event seeks to expand Thailand's health and environmental economy, creating new economic waves for the country's future growth.
Somsak Kreechai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine, noted that the Ministry of Public Health is actively promoting hemp as a key economic crop for health, raising production standards to meet international standards.
Currently, 123 farms have been certified for Good Agricultural and Harvesting Practices (GACP) in Thailand. During AIHEF 2025, the Ministry will also offer traditional Thai cannabis oil massages, sports rehabilitation therapy, and training programs for dispensary operators and vendors to ensure standardization and legal compliance.
Songmet Sangnoi, Director of the Cannabis, Hemp and Kratom Research Group at the Department of Agriculture, reaffirmed the department's commitment to developing Thai hemp genetics to meet GAP/GACP standards, in order to position hemp as a key economic crop within the Green Economy and BCG.
