Belvedere Pharma is no longer on the list of entities licensed by Infarmed
Belvedere Pharma, authorized in 2023 to cultivate, import, and export cannabis for medicinal purposes, is no longer on the public list of entities licensed by Infarmed. After official contact with the company, it confirmed that it is in the process of requesting a license renewal and updating its technical staff, which is the reason for its absence.
As part of CannaReporter's monitoring of Infarmed's official listings, it was found that Belvedere Pharma does not appear on the list currently made publicly available by the national pharmaceutical authority. The company obtained a license in July 2023 to cultivate, import, and export medicinal cannabis for a one-year, renewable period, in accordance with Notice No. 18691/2023 of September 28, published in the Official Gazette.
Since licensing is annual and dependent on a renewal request, the absence may be related to the status of the renewal process, which would not be unprecedented. Although it has not yet been possible to determine the cause of this absence from the parties involved, it may be related to delays in updating listings, pending procedures, or other administrative changes to the license status.
To date, no official statement has been released to clarify this situation, and because it was the weekend, we were unable to contact either Infarmed or Belvedere Pharma. According to sources close to the company, it was unofficially confirmed that the company was in the process of renewing its license.
Due to official contact with the company, obtained after the publication of this article, namely with the future technical director of Belvedere, we obtained official confirmation that “Belvedere is not currently on the Infarmed list, as it is in the process of renewing (its license) as CannaReporter had already reported”.
CannaReporter will continue to analyze and cross-reference data from the sector and will monitor this topic.
