The government of Canada is preparing to announce legislation that opens the way, effective July 1, 2018, for the legalization of marijuana in the country.

The measure, which is one of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's campaign promises, has already begun to be disseminated among Liberal party bodies and will come into effect on "Canada Day", on July 1, 2018, reveals public television. from Canada.

The Canadian community was already expecting the presentation of a measure of this kind, and “it is exciting to see that initiatives are being implemented in numbers and dates, on April 20, next month, legislation will be presented and it will be made legal in 2008” says Marc Emery, from Cannabis Culture, and given that these are dates that are usually celebrated with cannabis, they are good dates.

According to CBC television, the various provinces will be able to regulate the control of the sale of products, including the minimum age of access and the price. The same law will allow Canadians to have up to four cannabis plants at home.

Earlier this month, a particular case of an apprehension of the owners of a well-known dispensary, generated controversy, when Marc and Jodie Emery – the owners of the Cannabis Culture brand – were arrested, along with other dispensaries of the brand across Canada.

The proposed law and the plan for its implementation will be revealed in April, stressing the Government that until the measure comes into force, the current legal framework will continue to be supervised by the police.

“We are excited, but is there a need for an 'orgy' of arrests and detentions before this legislation is passed?”

All cannabis-related dispensaries remain illegal as federal authorities draft legislation to legalize and regulate cannabis. Meanwhile, dispensaries are relatively attractive targets for burglars, and there are several robberies, as well as situations of threats with firearms.

Here is the report with Marc, from Cannabis Culture:
