Spannabis delayed due to Coronavirus

Published

Spannabis, known as the biggest fair in the cannabis industry, in Barcelona, has been postponed to an undetermined date, following a statement published today by the Catalan Regional Government, which prohibits events with a capacity of more than 1000 people. There is still no official announcement from the organization, but it is expected in the coming hours, as several exhibitors announce their withdrawal from the 2020 edition.

The world has witnessed, during the global outbreak of the new coronavirus, several measures aimed at containing the transmission of the disease. An example of this are numerous examples of events that are being postponed or canceled, under the premise that events that gather large masses of people are outbreaks of transmission of the virus. In Spain, Spannabis is also at risk, after an announcement by the Catalan government that it prohibits events that bring together more than 1000 people.

The cannabis event was planned for the 13th, 14th and 15th in Barcelona, and features more than 300 exhibitors from various brands that are closely linked to the medical, recreational and industrial hemp industries around the world. The event is also especially recognized for the affluence it generates and for the business opportunities arising from networking, as it brings together more than 30 people.

The French twitter channel NewsWeed reported the postponement of the event, which was confirmed moments later on the event's official page. Several participants and exhibitors had already announced their absence, and it was during the assembly that the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan police, entered the venue to report the impossibility of carrying it out.
