Cann10 receives pre-license for cannabis cultivation in Vila de Rei

A Cann10-Portugal just received the pre-license from the infarmed (National Authority for Medicines and Health Products, IP) for the cultivation, import and export of Cannabis sativa L., announced the Municipality of Vila de Rei in a press release.

The authorization will allow Cann10 to implement a factory in Vila de Rei, in an investment of around 10 million euros, with the hiring of 100 qualified workers over the next four years. Cann10 is now preparing to build its facilities, while preparing the genetics in its adaptation facilities.

Speaking to CannaReporter, Yair Sayag, responsible for Cann10 in Portugal, welcomed the approval: “Receiving this news in the midst of the Coronavirus confusion was very positive for us. We started working in Portugal about 2 years ago, we have a technical team of 10 people with everything ready to start, from farmers to other specialists, so let's go step by step. As soon as the global pandemic situation calms down, we will certainly move forward with the construction of our definitive factory.”

Within six months, Infarmed will carry out inspections of Cann10's new facilities, which must ensure compliance with Good Agricultural and Harvesting Practices (GACP) and other requirements arising from the activity. According to Yair Sayag, Cann10 already has a team to start planting the first genetics, in the adaptation facilities next to the factory that will be built in Lot 1 of the Souto Industrial Zone. In addition, Cann10 also intends to import some of its products from Israel to Portugal.

The President of Vila de Rei Chamber, Ricardo Aires, said in a statement that “this first positive opinion from Infarmed is a very important step in what will be an investment with enormous weight in economic development, attracting qualified labor and fixing the population in the interior of the country.”
