Brazil: President Lula da Silva appoints Viviane Sedola to the “Conselhão”

The President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, reactivated the Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development, better known as “Conselhão” and, this time, dedicated a space to cannabis. Among the more than 250 nominees for board members is businesswoman Viviane Sedola, founder of Dr. cannabis.

Brazil is definitely at a turning point in its approach to cannabis. The President, Lula da Silva, decided to reactivate the “Conselhão”, created during his 2003 government by the Labor Party, which was later extinguished by Jair Bolsonaro. The Council for Sustainable Economic and Social Development, made up of more than 250 members, now also has Viviane Sedola, an entrepreneur in the cannabis sector, appointed to join the “Conselhão”.

The list of members was known last week, after a presentation dinner attended by Viviane Sedola. Lula da Silva's new adviser founded, in 2018, Dr. Cannabis, which in addition to educating about the therapeutic benefits of cannabis, provides training and helps in the interconnection between doctors and patients.

Entrepreneur with more than 19 years of experience in innovation and digital solutions and founder of startups Kickante and Dr. Cannabis, the latter incorporated into Cannect, a medical cannabis ecosystem, Viviane Sedola has been working since 2017 to “reduce bureaucracy in the medical use of cannabis in Brazil and Latin America”. Together with the press and the legislature, Viviane brings her experience in creating laws to drive positive change. Awarded by the American magazine High Times at the Female 50 event as the most influential Latin American woman in the international cannabis sector.
