Assembly of the Republic: Cannabis Working Group meets tomorrow for the first time

The Working Group on the legalization of adult cannabis use will meet tomorrow, for the first time, at the Health Commission, in the Assembly of the Republic, at 11 am. The objective of this first meeting, chaired by the deputy of the Socialist Party, Maria Antónia Almeida Santos, is to define the working methodology and indicate the entities and personalities to be heard and from whom to request opinions, among other matters. 

Maria Antónia Almeida Santos, president of the Parliamentary Health Commission, had already asked in September for a first extension of the deadline, for another 60 days, for the general appreciation of the two bills for the legalization of adult cannabis use, submitted by the Left Bloc and the Liberal Initiative to the Assembly of the Republic (AR) on the 9th of June.

The meeting will not be open to the public or broadcast and will only serve to kick-start the debate between the various parties with parliamentary seats on the legalization of adult cannabis use and start the hearings of the relevant people and entities in this matter.
