After CannAzores International Congress, held in the Azores in October 2021, arrives in Lisbon at CannaPortugal – International Industrial Hemp Expo, which will take place on the 18th and 19th of June, at FIL – Lisbon Congress Centre, from 10am to 20pm. The event is organized by Neuron Bonus and the Industrial Hemp Traders Association of Portugal, in partnership with the Agricultural Association of the Island of S. Miguel, the Terra Verde Association, the Stoner Chef Inc. and Counselor Matthew Correia, from Toronto, Canada.
This is an initiative that follows the mission assumed by Professor Graça Castanho last year in the Azores. “Both events were designed to add value and accompany the expansion of the hemp sector in particular and the cannabis industry in general, as well as to reinforce the role of the different actors in the production process, from seeds to final sale and purchase. of the wide range of solutions based on hemp, without forgetting the positive impact that all cannabis activity has in the field of Human Rights, Quality of Life, Planet Sustainability and Economic Development of Countries”, he explained to Cannareporter.
Last year, when Cannazores was held, the Regional Secretary for Agriculture of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, António Ventura, highlighted the need to diversify crops for more sustainable agriculture, stating that “the region is available to experience this culture with hemp producers, investing in education and training, in order to create employment and attractiveness to bring young people to the land”.
Now the Azores come to Lisbon with the same objective, says Graça Castanho, “because it is our priority to disseminate, in different geographies, the scientific knowledge, practices and processes associated with this super-plant and to make it known to the various professional and the population in general the need for a systematic and serious investment in this productive sector”. And why Lisbon? “The option for the city of Lisbon was unavoidable, since it is in the capital that political decisions are made, being, therefore, the ideal space for the sector to show its vitality, strength and determination to contribute to a more sustainable, more sustainable world. democratic, fairer and healthier”, says the university professor.
