Aldo Vidinha, CEO of StepWise and one of the organizers of the Medical Cannabis Europe Conference, which took place last week at the Hotel Ramada in Lisbon, assured Cannareporter that this was the first of many conferences that aim to bring together professionals from the medical cannabis industry in Portugal. . The event featured Ana Paula Martins, Chairman of the Ordem dos Farmacêuticos in the opening session and had about 117 participants, including guests and subscribers.

Aldo Vidinha made a positive assessment of this first edition. “It was a very dynamic conference, in which all the participants asked a lot of questions. That was one of our fears, that people would be inhibited, but there was a lot of dynamism in the presentations. By chance mine was the one that had the fewest questions (laughs) but it's normal, it's an area that is a little less known and there weren't many doubts. We have a very positive balance, we had very good feedback of the people who were here and that is the most important thing”.

As for a new conference, Aldo guarantees that the team will start working on next year's event. “It will probably be in a different location, still in Lisbon, but closer to the center, in order to facilitate access for people, and it will be done with a few more surprises”.

The main topics discussed at Medical Cannabis Europe ranged from “the regulatory part (how do you prepare a licensing process, what kind of documents are needed, how long does the process take, what are the challenges that have been encountered along the way? of the process, how does the installation start, what is to be expected when Infarmed carries out the inspection, etc. We also talked a little about the market, where it is at the moment, what kind of sales were there last year and how sales are going this year, which patients are looking for, which diseases are at the top of the use of cannabis as a therapy, as a treatment of disease”.

Vidinha was satisfied with this first edition of Medical Cannabis Europe and guaranteed news soon. “I think it was very important for the people who were here, both for industry professionals and for anyone trying to enter this market”.
