A Curaleaf Holdings Inc., a Massachusetts-based multinational cannabis company, is facing seven federal lawsuits over Select-branded products because buyers ingested THC from CBD-labeled bottles. Curaleaf has already admitted that there was “unintentional human error” that led to the production of a batch of CBD drops that were actually THC drops, and vice versa.

About 500 bottles were wrongly labeled as CBD drops, containing high levels of THC were sold before the withdrawal from shelves, which could raise the number of charges against the multinational giant. On the other hand, 630 products labeled as THC drops, which contained only CBD, were also sold. Patients who purchased bottles of CBD with incorrect labels may have mistakenly received more than 30 milligrams of THC.

The buyers who filed the seven cases, all brought by the same attorney in US District Court in the State of Oregon, said they suffered a number of adverse effects and undesirable symptoms after taking the oils. Each is seeking compensation of up to 1% of Curaleaf's net worth - around $100 million, based on a report earlier this year in which the company estimated its market capitalization at more than $10 billion. of dollars.

The company said it cooperated with Oregon regulators in pulling out the swapped batches and is reviewing its production processes to avoid similar issues in the future.
