The Zhytomyr Oblast region of Ukraine is about to develop an industrial park for the cultivation and processing of industrial hemp, with the aim of attracting small and large companies to work on various hemp-based products.
The project will be established in the Khorosh community under the name of MA'RIJANNI HEMP INDUSTRIAL PARK, located in the village of Rizhanni. The project is a joint initiative of the Military Administration of the Zhytomyr region and local municipalities. Michel Tereshchenko, a Ukrainian hemp advocate and majority shareholder in the Volodarsko-Volyn flax factory, is the main driver of the project, which aims to create a modern hemp cultivation and industrial processing cluster.
Hemp can contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine
The project is expected to promote Ukraine's reconstruction and European integration, as well as provide an alternative supply of basic raw materials. As Tereshchenko points out in a post made on Facebook, “this is a very good project that will promote the reconstruction and European integration of Ukraine, which will create an alternative to supply from China”.
Hemp processing is scheduled to start in October 2024. The total area of the production and storage facilities reaches almost 12.000m² and the initiative is expected to have a significant impact on the country's economy and its position in the global market.
The industrial park also aims to create a local market for farmers in the region, generate jobs and supply raw materials to companies. It will also help revive the tradition of hemp textile production in Zhytomyr.
Ukraine wants to enter the European market
The advantages of this project include the confirmed demand for transformation products from the main European consumers, the possibility of entering the EU market, and the suitability of hemp fibers as a raw material for the production of defense products.
Tereshchenko notes that the project satisfies the requirements of supplying raw materials to companies and “is for all Ukrainian entrepreneurs who want to come and work on hemp products locally, being assured of a good supply of basic raw materials”.
Some officials of the State Administration of Zhytomyr Oblast, including the head of Zhytomyr OVA, Vitaly Bunechko and representatives of structural profile units, discussed the prospects of the project during a meeting on the 13th of February, noting the relevance and importance of its implementation.
As Tereshchenko points out, “the Volodarsko-Volynsky flax factory is the driving force behind the creation of an industrial park and its creation and location fulfills the requirements for supplying raw materials to companies”.
the creation of MA'RIJANNI HEMP INDUSTRIAL PARK in Ukraine should also promote the reconstruction and European integration of Ukraine, create an alternative supply of basic raw materials, generate jobs and supply raw materials to companies. The project aims to create a modern cluster of cultivation and technical processing of hemp, which can attract small and large companies working on various products based on this plant. The project is expected to benefit both the local community and the country's economy as a whole.
