Iceland considers 4-year medical cannabis access pilot project

Iceland could be the next European country to allow the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes, following a proposal made by legislators for a 4-year pilot project, reported Cannabis Health News. The project, which should be presented by the end of December, aims to legalize medical cannabis and establish regulations for cultivation, production and distribution, having been inspired by Danish legislation.

If the proposal has a favorable vote, the Ministry of Health will collaborate with the Minister of Culture and Commerce to create a working group in charge of preparing a bill that allows companies to apply for licenses to produce and distribute cannabis-based medicines.
