Somaí and Canna Forest sign agreement to manufacture API's and EU-GMP products

Somaí Pharmaceuticals signed a manufacturing agreement with Canna Forest to produce APIs (acronym for active pharmaceutical ingredients) and EU-GMP certified extracted cannabis products at its facilities in Carregado. Under the terms of the agreement, Somaí will process Canna Forest's high-THC medical cannabis flower into APIs, extracted in accordance with European Union (EU) GMP standards, for distribution in Australia. So far, 240 kg have been extracted for sale in Australia and Germany, but Somaí expects to receive and produce more in 2024.

Somaí is a European pharmaceutical and biotechnology company with an EU-GMP license from Infarmed in Portugal, which distributes pharmaceutical products containing cannabinoids. Canna Forest is a Portuguese company based in Fundão, licensed by Infarmed to cultivate, wholesale, import and export medicinal cannabis with a high THC content.

The contract announced by the two companies follows the EU's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) authorization, granted to Somaí in September.
